Lubbock council re-authorizes juvenile curfew
The City of Lubbock's curfew will continue. City council approved re-upping the program for another three years.
Police say the curfew helped stop nearly 500 crimes last year, including loitering, criminal mischief and vandalism.
Police report there were 67 citations for criminal mischief, 183 thefts and 133 drug arrests made as part of the ordinance. A memo from former Police Chief Greg Stevens advocates for aggressive enforcement of the curfew. He said it also keeps parents accountable.
State code mandates the city reviews the policy every few years.
