LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 23 Texas Tech men's tennis team defeated No. 6 Baylor, 4-3 on Sunday in their final match of the regular season.

Tech has concluded the regular season with a 15-10 record, including a 7-2 mark in Lubbock.

"I'm so proud of our guys," head coach Brett Masi said. "Tommy came up big for us and grabbed that half point in doubles play, and then for Artem to close out the season the way he did is just huge for us. We're hoping to ride this momentum into postseason play."

In doubles, Tech jumped out to an early advantage, as senior Tommy Mylnikov and junior Jackson Cobb snagged the first win of the day by a margin of 6-3 on court two.

No. 7 Bjorn Thomson and Parker Wynn, after losing the first set point, stormed back to take six of the next seven set points against the No. 1 ranked duo in the nation. Thomson and Wynn's victory was their fifth against ranked opponents this season.

With the 1-0 match lead, Wynn tallied on another point for Tech by delivering a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win over the No. 22 ranked singles player in the country. The bounce back win was the first Big 12 victory for Wynn and his third over a ranked foe this spring.

Following a pair of wins by Baylor on courts two and four, the Red Raiders secured their third match point of the evening with a victory on court three by sophomore Ilgiz Valiev, who won his match at 6-3, 6-7(5). Valiev's win over the No. 84 ranked singles player of Baylor was his third of the year and he is now 6-3 in Tech's last 10 matches.

With the match coming down to the wire, the Red Raiders would turn to senior Artem Kapshuk, who battled his way to a three-set win on court six to give Tech their fourth and final point. It was the first match-clinching victory for Kapshuk in his two years as a Red Raider.
