Now is a good time to start reviewing your insurance policies. Storm season is only beginning.

Agents suggest you check for accuracy and take a close look at your deductible. After all, the last thing you want to be worried about is whether your car or house are covered.

If the weather breaks something like a fence or part of your home, take pictures, then fix it, so there's no more risk of damage. Then you can start the insurance process.

Your policy will likely cover those repairs.

"Know your local contractors," said Nichole Forman with State Farm Insurance. "We have a lot of great contractors in our area, people that do good work, but always be on guard for unsolicited -- people who are knocking on doors, asking to do estimates."

"Know who you're talking to, get multiple estimates and make sure they're dated and detailed estimates, to be able to share with your insurer."

State Farm reports hundreds of claims just from the past couple days stretching from the Panhandle and South Plains to East Texas.
