UPDATE: Centennial Bank-Plainview manager sentenced 21 months for embezzlement
Court filings indicate Joe Frank Rodriguez went into the vault multiple times to remove various amounts of cash for personal use.
The manager of Centennial Bank in Plainview, Joe Frank Rodriguez, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for a federal embezzlement charge Friday.
He pleaded guilty on August 24, admitting to stealing approximately $143,000 from the bank's vault between October 2016 and January 19, 2018.
Court filings indicate Rodriguez went into the vault multiple times to remove various amounts of cash for personal use, and an internal investigation at Centennial led to a confrontation with Rodriguez. Court documents show he admitted to management he used the money for everyday expenses, and explained how he was able to embezzle the money without detection. Those details weren't disclosed in court filings.
Plea documents indicate Rodriguez started at Centennial in 2004 as a teller, then was promoted through 2017 to manager.
