FEMA agents in ubbock inspecting damaged roads and infrastructure across the county. County Judge Tom Head's disaster declaration after downpours in May prompting the visit from the feds.

"Right now our estimates for Lubbock county are $2.1 million to our county roads," Clinton Thetford Lubbock county emergency management coordinator said. "City of Shallowater for their infrastructure is about $2 million. So we should very well qualify."

If Lubbock county qualifies then FEMA will cover 75 percent of costs.

While the county may get some assistance Thetford says damage in Shallowater doesn't meet the criteria for individuals to receive assistance. Shallowater had more than 200 homes with minor damage. The requirement is a minimum of five homes destroyed or with major damage.
