A Lubbock grand jury indicted Israel Edward Martinez for attempted aggravated kidnapping, a second degree felony.
Police say the victim was walking near 58th and Norfolk when Martinez offered here a ride. She told police when she declined, Martinez grabbed her and threatened her with a tire iron to get into his car.
She managed to take the weapon from him and swung at him. That's when investigators say Martinez pinned her to the ground as she tried reaching for her phone.
Police say a witness stopped, Martinez fled to his car. If convicted, he faces two to 20 years in prison.
The grand jury also indicted Christopher Johnson, for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Police say Johnson had been assaulting the minor since 2016. According to court records, Johnson would perform oral sex on his accuser almost every day, and raped him multiple times a week.
Prosecutors claim Johnson would take pictures of his accuser and send them to the accuser's friends, asking them to let him do similar things.
If convicted, Johnson faces up to life in prison with the possibility for parole.
